Causes

This condition can affect all age groups. It is often seen after a sprain or bad twist to the ankle.

Pain swelling and instability are the main symptoms.

Investigations

A clinical assessment and X-rays are required, which may be followed by scans.

Treatment

Physiotherapy and splints may be tried at first. An ankle arthroscopy is helpful to confirm and treat the cause of the problem.
